Hello - this is the new blog for Designing for Services in Science and Technology-based Enterprises, a one year interdisciplinary research project. It's supported by Designing for the 21st Century, an academic research initiative funded by the UK's Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. The project is led by a small team at Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.
Designing for Services is boundary-spanning, involving both service deisgn practitioners, entrepreneurs and researchers; interdisciplinary, brining together people from a range of academic disciplines including design, geography, IT, management studies and science and technology studies; and exploratory, seeking to find out how the designing of services is understood by these different contexts.
The project begins with a workshop next week at Saïd Business School involving all participants, and runs for a year. By using this blog to make public our process as well as our findings, we hope to engage with other practitioners and researchers concerned with how services are designed.
